Singing barkhan (Kazakhstan)

One more miracle of the nature is located on the right to coast of the river Ili. The singing barkhan (dune) is well-known for that in dry weather sand issue a sound similar to a melody of musical instrument – organ. Favorable conditions of a resonance create sound waves which, being reflected from dense ground, make trembling sands. This sound is audible for some kilometers. It is curious, that the barkhan does not wander on plains, despite of unsteadiness of sand and strong a wind, and there are on a place some millennia. Its southwest slope smooth whereas the slope in northeast has some crests with flat slopes.
