Route: Astana — Almaty


Day 1 Astana:

Arrival in Astana, meeting with the driver at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Breakfast.

City tour Astana — 4 hours

Today you see Museum of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a collection of weapons, decorations and awards, Ak-Orda Presidential Residence, Nurzhol Boulevard on the left bank of the Ischim River, the city’s landmark, Bajterek Tower from the British Architects Norman Foster, Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center (the biggest tent in the world, 150 m high, made of plastic with shops, whitewater swimming pool, spa center, restaurants, cinema and much more), opera, Atameken nature complex and much more. Return to the hotel.

Day 2 Soviet camps of the GULAG system in Kazakhstan

After breakfast tour to GULAG tour. You see the camp ALGIR (abbreviation for "Akmolinskij camp Zhen Ismennikov Rodine — Akmola camp of the women of the fatherland traitors.

Afternoon leisure. Overnight in Astana.

Day 3 Expo 2017

Breakfast in the hotel.

Visit of the world exhibition Expo. Check out at 12pm.

Transfer to the station. Train to Almaty. Overnight in the train.

Day 4 Almaty and Medeo

Arrival in Almaty. Transfer to the hotel. Breakfast in the hotel. Free time.

In the afternoon city tour of Almaty.

You see Residence of President, the Republic Square with Monument of Independence, Opera and Ballet Theater, Astana Square, Central Mosque, Green Bazar, Park of the 28 Panfilov soldiers, and other sights of the city. Afterwards you will drive to Medeo, the largest and one of the most famous ice skating and bandy stadium in the world (16 km from Almaty). Medeo Stadium is located at a height of 1701 m and is surrounded by mountain peaks up to 2200 meters high. Return to Almaty and visit the Central State Museum, one of the largest museums in Central Asia. Here you will find interesting stories about the origin of Kazakhstan, the flora and fauna of the prehistoric period and their extinction, the first traces of people, wars and migrations, and many other interesting stories from the prehistoric era to the present day.

Visit the park of culture and recreation Kok-Tobe («Green Hill»). Kok-Tobe is a 1130 m high mountain of the Kungei-Alatau mountains. The mountain is connected by a cableway with the center of Almaty. On the mountain are the television tower (372 m high) and a bronze stage of the Beatles. Around 18:30 return to the hotel.

Day 5 Almaty — Altyn Emel

09:00 Departure to the national park Altyn-Emel. In the heart of Central Asia, 250 km from Almaty and south of the Grat Jungar Tau there is the largest national park Kazakhstan, the Altyn-Emel. The territory of the National Park covers the western foothills of the Ducharer Alatau, the bare mountains Katutau, Aktau, Ulken and Kschi-Kalkany. One of the highlights is the Singing Dune, a sand dune that rises from nowhere out of the flat steppe landscape.

Here the unique flora and fauna of the region was preserved. There are about 70 species of mammals in the national park and the dunes, such as the Siberian ibex, desert chaff, gazelles, Tien-Shan mountain sheep, Argali, Saiga antelopes, red wolves, foxes, Tien-Shan brown bears and the magnificent Turkmen Kulane horse).

Day 6 Altyn Emel

Breakfast in guest house.

Second day in Altyn Emel. Today you will travel for Aktau and Kakatau mountains, gorgeous white resp. dyed red. Accommodation in Altyn-Emel (lunch, dinner)

Day 7 Altyn Emel — Kolsai Lakes

Full day trip today, from Basshi in a southerly direction near the border with Kyrgyzstan through mainly empty steppe, sometimes crowded by flocks of sheep, cattle or horses. From the end of May to the middle of September semi-nomad live in this region, looking after the cattle and staying in their yurts. The first of the three Kolsai mountain lakes at 1.1818 meters. It is a wonderful area for hiking, horseback riding (optional), relaxing. Accommodation in the family in Saty. (Lunch dinner)

Day 8 Kolsai Lakes — Charyn Canyon — Almaty


On return way to ALmaty visit Charyn Canyon. From the entrance of the canyon you will start a small hike through the canyon. The Charyn Canyon, also known as the little brother of the Grand Canyon in America, stretches 154 km along the river of the same name and awaits its visitors with gigantic rock formations. The age of the ravine, which is up to 300 meters high, is estimated to be over 12 million years. The Charyn Gorge has a huge variety of flora and fauna. There are more than 1,500 plant species, 17 of which are almost extinct. We also include more than 60 mammalian species, over 100 breeding birds and 25 species of reptiles. You have about two hours to hike the canyon on your own, before you drive to Almaty (drive approximately 3.0 — 3.5 hours). Lunch on the way.

Day 8 home flight

Transfer to the airport. (16 km).
