TOWNS OF KAZAKHSTAN AND BAIKONUR

1 Day Astana

Arrival in Astana, transfer to the hotel. Later a city tour of Astana with a German-speaking / English-speaking guide. Becoming the new capital of Kazakhstan since 1998, today Astana is quite a modern city in the steppe with own beauties and places of interest. Above all still many old houses stand on the right side of the river, but most places of interest are from the modern time. (B)

2 Day Astana — Kyzylorda- Aralsk

Today you will fly from Astana to Kyzylorda. Arrival in Kyzylorda and transfer to the railway station to go to Aralsk. Overnight in the simple guest house (toilet is outside of the house) (B).

3 Day Aralsk — Baikonur

Today you have an excursion to Aral lake. Formerly the fourth-largest lake in the world with an area of 68,000 km² (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea has been shrinking since the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. After it you will visit the local museum, then transfer to the railway station and go by train to Baikonur. Overnight in the hotel of «Studencheskaja». (B)

4 Day Baikonur

After the breakfast tour around Baikonur, including the start place N2, the museum of the Cosmodrome Baikonur history where you learn more about development of the most important stages of the Cosmodrome, see house-museum of Yu.Gagarin and S. Korolev, the Buran spaceship, the Russian Space shuttle type. The first earth satellite started from the Gagarin’s start № 1, in 1957 and the first cosmonaut Yuriy Gagarin. The start place is still used. Return in the town. (B).

5 Day Baikonur – Turkestan

After breakfast transfer to the railway station. Train to Turkestan. Upon arrival — accommodation in the hotel. (B)

6 Day Turkestan

Today you will visit the main attraction of Turkestan the grave mosque Khoja Ahmed Yassawi, one of the best known Islamic pilgrim’s sites. The complex of buildings was established to honour of the prophet Khoja Yassawi and today is one of the most beautiful and important buildings of the Timur epoch. In 35 rooms and chambers you discover historical items and antiquities. There is also a Friday mosque and a medieval bath house on the area. The afternoon is free time. In the evening transfer to the railway station for train to Almaty. Overnight in the night train. (B)

7 Day Almaty

Arrival in Almaty. Transfer to the hotel. Today you discover Almaty, (Alma-Ata in past), the former capital of Kazakhstan — city tour with guide. Go into the busy streets and squares of the city and walk by the popular Panfilov park where Young and Old meets. In the middle of the park there is the Saint-Voznesenskiy cathedral, which was built by the famous architect Zenkov. Return to the hotel. Free time. (B)

8 Day Almaty — Medeo

Today you have the tour to Medeo. Famous open air skating rink Medeo (skating rink works in winter) is surrounded by high mountains. More than 190 world records were set up to now in this skating rink. Return to the hotel. Free time. (B)

9 Day Almaty Flight home

Transfer to the airport. Flight home.
